Aranmula is among the three villages in the country, which has been identified for launching the Endogenous Tourism Project (ETP)— a joint venture of the Union Government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The other villages are Kulu Manali in Himachal Pradesh and Pochampally in Andhra Pradesh.
