The Jaiji Peter Foundation gold medal and citation for the State's best environmental activist will be presented to Pampa Parirakshana Samithi general secretary 

The Jaiji Peter Foundation gold medal and citation for the State's best environmental activist will be presented to Pampa Parirakshana Samithi general secretary N.K. Sukumaran Nair.

Announcing this , Foundation's chairman P.O. Philip and general secretary Babu Peter said Mr. Nair's name had been selected by representatives of the public, media and other environmentalists from nearly 25 nominations that the Foundation had received.

The medal and citation wpresented to Mr. Nair by Minister for irrigation Minister Mr.Premachandran  Jaiji's birthplace in Pambakuda on May 4. 2007

The medal is the first one instituted by the Foundation, which was set up in the memory of Jaiji Peter, a senior sub-editor with the Malayala Manorama, who passed away in an accident on May 4, 1997. The Foundation had earlier instituted fellowships and awards for improving journalism standards and also to encourage environment studies by scribes.
